omg you are so lame and predictable can u not.
Because it’s something that has actually really affected and bothered me. Sometimes it’s not outrightly mean, and it’s actually meant as a compliment. Like I’ve been told so many times “Wow you’re so skinny, you look anorexic, I’m so jealous!” and it’s like wow I look diseased, thanks. Awesome, just the look I’m going for. Or like this guy on my floor ended up folding my laundry one time (long story) and he was like “The waist on your pants is so small!” and like it wasn’t outright, but it’s weird to just comment on someone’s body like that. Like you wouldn’t tell a bigger girl how wide her pants are would you?
But it’s terrible when it is intended to hurt. Like when people post shit like “real men want curves. only dogs want bones.” Like cool, let’s objectify women by turning them into their body shape, completely ignore the little thing call preferences, and compare men to dogs. Beyond that it implies that 1) a man who prefers thin women is not a “real man” (which is a stupid concept we need to get rid of) 2) thin women are therefore undeserving of love 3) thin women are bad.
The go to insult people have for me is “anorexic bitch” I’ve been called that probably more than any other name when someone is trying to insult me. And it’s bothersome because I have had issues with disordered eating in the past. Even though I’m naturally thin and pretty active, it doesn’t make me immune to body issues. I have my own insecurities with my shape and I don’t need to be told I look sick or to eat a cheeseburger, thank you very much.
If we want to promote body acceptance let’d accept everyone’s body, mmmk? Just because someone fits the “ideal” doesn’t make them a bad person or worthy of insult. If you need to insult someone in order to accept your body (i.e. “Fuck society! Curves are beautiful, and skinny bitches are all anorexic bitches.”) then you don’t truly accept your own body. It should be “Fuck society leading me to believe I have to look like their manufactured ideal to have worth! I have just as much worth as thin women, and then have just as much worth as me BECAUSE WE ARE FULLY REALIZED HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE WORTH MORE THAN THE AESTHETIC VALUES OF OUR BODIES!”
and she uploaded that saying “breakfast ^_^”
